Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE)

Firstly, allow me to congratulate Informa Markets for organising OGA 2023 as it can be an important platform to showcase the capabilities of the Malaysian oil and gas sector (O&G) sector in providing world-class products and services.

The Malaysian O&G sector has always been an important contributor to Malaysia’s exports and revenue and we expect this strong contribution to continue in the coming years. The fact that the industry also supports thousands of companies, including SMEs in terms of generating revenue and high-value jobs further amplifies its importance to the country’s future.

As a national trade promotion agency of Malaysia, it goes without saying that MATRADE is committed to assisting O&G industry players to venture into the global energy market and establish a sustainable footprint.

Consequently, as in previous years, MATRADE is yet again the official business-to-business (B2B) matching partner for this year’s OGA.  The pre-arranged B2B sessions that MATRADE organises will facilitate meetings between local O&G vendors and foreign buyers. Walk-in visitors during OGA 2023 are also most welcome to visit MATRADE’s stand to get connected with Malaysian suppliers.

We wish Informa Markets, exhibitors, and visitors the best and hopefully we can all continue to play our part in growing Malaysia’s O&G industry.

Chief Executive Officer
Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE)

Malaysia Petroleum Resources Corporation (MPRC)

As the world readies up for a new energy future, Malaysian OGSE companies must stay the course and build on their resilience to navigate the transition.

OGA 2023 will be another opportunity for local companies to showcase their innovative technology and products in the highly competitive industry in which sustainability is of key consideration.

In addition to ever-challenging market forces, oil and gas players are still trying to recoup from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

MPRC will continue to work together with OGSE companies to realise their full potential and foster an effective ecosystem not only to bolster the long-term growth of Malaysia’s energy industry but also to enhance its contribution to national GDP growth.

The implementation of the National OGSE Industry Blueprint 2021-2030 is on track and it covers pertinent areas such as energy transition and human capital development.

Ultimately, it is our aim to make local OGSE companies more resilient, globally competitive and future-proof as Malaysia transitions to become a low carbon economy. Our efforts will include working with renowned international institutes to elevate the outcomes of the OGSE Blueprint to uncover new opportunities for Malaysian companies.

I wish all participants a fruitful experience in OGA 2023

Mohd Yazid Ja’afar
President/Chief Executive Officer
Malaysia Petroleum Resources Corporation (MPRC)
